MTW comment: Carefoooool! Given the recent Lieberman’s attack on Abbas, this accusation (true or fabricated) serves the interests of Israel. Under tremendous international pressure to negotiate the two-state solution with the Palestinians, this is the time Israel may benefit from inciting an internal conflict between the Palestinian factions. Again, we will hear, “We have no partner to negotiate with.” And again, the peace talks will be successfully sabotaged. In the long run, Israel’s position is stronger in negotiations with radical Hamas, rather than with moderate Fatah. This may well be the name of the game, the ultimate goal behind Lieberman’s surprising “honesty”, and the true source of similar revelations.
